mixing and mingling with mikes

July 1, 2009

Today the Mellings mixed and mingled with Mikes.

  1. For breakfast, Peter got together with his friend Mike T.
  2. At work, I had a couple phone conversations with a church member, Mike H.
  3. And a couple phone conversations with a different church member, Mike M.
  4. Walking home, coworker Mike V passed me on his bike on his way to work.
  5. Walking home from work, I saw the familiar face of a Jimmy John’s delivery dude. Turns out his name is Mike, and he was biking to his home in my neighborhood.
  6. At home, two fellows were replacing the ceiling of our sunroom. Casual conversation revealed that the one named Mike once built bathrooms for a space shuttle display at NASA.
  7. We went to Peter’s place of employment to work on a project. When the printer next to me started spitting out pages, Mike T (a differnt one) came to fetch them.

Unfortunately, we did not see our neighbor Michael. (Would he count?) But still… SEVEN MIKES IN ONE DAY!

    I love looking through my contact list to see which name I have the most of. Right now the top are:
    Matt = 5
    Nick = 5
    Erica = 4

    But then you get the groups like:
    Andrew/Andy = 3+3 = 6
    John/Jon/Jonathan = 2+3+1 = 6
    David/Dave = 2+3 = 5
    Steven/Steve = 2+3 = 5
    Kate/Katie = 3+1 = 4

    Sadly, only 3 Mikes…

      What if you added in female/male name counterparts, such as Nicole (Nick), Eric (Erica), Andrea (Andrew), Joanna (John), Stephanie (Steve), Michelle (Mike)? Would that add to your numbers?

      That is AWESOME! I’ve often thought it would be fun to make a card for somebody out of signs with their name on it, but haven’t ever gotten around to it.

      I wonder if it will ever again be fashionable to tuck one’s t-shirts into one’s jeans.

    I didn’t speak to or see ANY Mikes today. I feel a bit slighted 😦

    We count white cars in a row. Or is that an Arizona thing?
