running music

April 29, 2009

I’ve been running a bit lately, and my iPod makes the exercise more tolerable. However, I’m getting bored with the current tunes in my “Running” playlist.

Can you recommend some sufficiently interesting and upbeat songs to keep me moving?

Hologram by Katie Herzig is one of my faves for running.

I love listening to hip-hop when I workout. Check out Lecrae, Trip Lee, Flame, and Shai Linne. These dudes will provide you great music and theology.

The Format and Arctic Monkeys for the first part, The Decemberists for the duration, Stars to cool down. Dream Theater if it’s a long run.

I second the hip-hop opinion. I recommend “Joyful Noise” by Flame and “Don’t Waste Your Life” by Lecrae.

You should try the theme songs for Rocky or Chariots of Fire. Just look at the results of those guys working out to those songs. You’ll be a champ in no time.

Eye of the Tiger. It gets me through everything.

Gotta agree with Chariots of Fire. Put in on repeat. Over and over. Then “run like you stole something”, so they say… (heh heh). It will inspire you. : )

Maybe music is not the answer. Record your voice giving a pep talk. Or, maybe, you could tell yourself that someone is chasing you…or a pack of wild dogs…or the Langoliers, or a Paragon magazine salesperson. You could switch it up.
