i have no idea who you are

February 26, 2009

Do you ever pretend you don’t know someone because they probably don’t remember you? I’ve been embarrassed before (and slightly irritated), when I claim to have met someone who does not remember me. So now I just save myself the trouble by feigning ignorance.

I also keep it to myself when I know something about someone who knows nothing about me. For instance, I found out via genealogical espionage that my fifth cousin and my seventh cousin once removed were fellow students at my college. Whenever I passed them on the sidewalk or SAT NEXT TO THEM ON THE BUS, I would tee-hee-hee to myself, but not be overly friendly or reveal my identity. Seriously, what kind of freak knows their seventh cousin once removed?
